Radius, Prestwich

Radius is a contempory mixed-use development comprising 150 one bedroom and two bedroom apartments spread over three separate buildings and designed around an unusual centralised first floor piazza. This provides central access for each building and a relaxing refuge for residents. Designed by celebrated British fashion designer Ben De Lisi, apartment interiors are elegant and complemented by their open plan layout.

Eurofloor were employed by Carillion National Building on a preferred sub-contractor basis following the outstanding success of the flooring installation completed at Liverpool’s first landmark apartment build, Beetham Tower in 2004 as well as the prestigious Radisson SAS hotel.

The installation has gone down as one of Eurofloor’s most complex to date and involved the installation of 3,300m² of 22mm Della Flamenco Trio engineered Walnut timber flooring nailed onto a Durabella raised acoustic cradle and batten floor system. This specification was installed to the main apartment living areas as well as each apartment hallway. The installation was made difficult by the water based underfloor heating system which had to be installed prior to the floor being installed. Eurofloor had to work closely with both Carillion and the M&E sub-contractor to ensure that the both the floor and the underfloor heating system were installed correctly, without compromising the load bearing ability of the floor and minimising risk of pipe damage from nails used to fix the floor boards to the batten.  The flooring was protected upon completion by rigid 3mm flame retardant protection again installed by Eurofloor.

Eurofloor also installed 2,400m²of 18mm P5 flooring grade chipboard to the apartment bedrooms and communal areas as well 400m² of 18mm WBP ply to the bathrooms and en-suites in readiness for a further floor finishes. Both products were again installed on the Durabella raised acoustic cradle and batten floor system.

Eurofloor utilised specialist tools for the installation including laser levelling systems to ensure that it was installed to the clients full satisfaction. Eurofloor also ensured this through the use of our own fully employed, trained and uniformed installation teams and managed by a dedicated and experienced Project Manager.

The project went extremely well with all apartments being sold out before the development even finished with buyers stating that the specification of the floor was one of the main decisions on their purchase.
